Ingret entitled this 100 photo series, Kagirinai. In Japanese, “Kagirinai Ai” means “Eternal Love.” Thus, “Kagirinai” means eternal or endless. With this in mind, looking again at the series before us, we are given a glimpse into the working process of Ingret, a relatively rare photographer for Met-Art.com, as well as the sensual secrets of his chosen model, the lovely and sumptuous Darlena.

So what is so “kagirinai” about this photo series? Well, several elements jump out to the discriminating eye, and help enhance the savor one may hope to glean from the images themselves.

First, there is a certain “eternal” quality to the ambience established by the photographer. A woman is sitting on a couch. She is posing in a relaxed manner, letting her garments fall from her without effort, and staring somewhat amused, somewhat bored into the lens. Such a scenario, and the use of such a subject, is as old as Ancient Greece, and spans through the Middle Ages with their pieta paintings, and into modern times with Gauguin’s portraits from the South Sea Islands. An eternal beauty eternally reclining.

There are also several “touches” in the series that play on the idea of eternity. The leopard print upholstery on the couch somehow beckons us back to our “eternal animal” past. The orange wallpaper seems to glow with the energy of the eternal sun. And the garment our model is wearing, with its strings hanging delicately over her breasts, allowing certain elements to peep through and others to remain hidden, reminds us of Plato’s forms which sit in shadow behind the screen of perception.

Finally, eternity calls to us from the eyes and lips of our lovely subject, Darlena. In her eyes one can see the longing of generations upon generations of beautiful young women to be admired, to love and be loved, and to please and be pleased. Her eyes are deep and truthful, glowing and profound, and they direct the vision of the viewer into her spirit, urging him to maintain a more intimate relationship with the image, and with her, than he might have initially contemplated. And in her lips eternity thrives as well. The eternity of all she might say, of all she might kiss, of all she might give of her body.
